Your Happy Place (February 2012 Edition)

February is here.  The groundhogs have emerged from their holes, and the majority are calling for more winter!  Sounds like hogwash!  Maybe groundhogwash!!  This wintry forecast seems odd in a year where we have had so little of the cold and white stuff?  What can we do?  There are a variety of opinions on the subject as our local forecaster, Wiarton Willie is calling for an early Spring.  I am liking Willie’s forecast! Punxsutawney Phil is calling for more Winter however.  How about you?  Did you see your shadow on Ground Hog day?  What is your forecast?  I wonder what Bill Murray is thinking?

Winter is a beautiful time of the year.  The fresh, cool air on a sunny Winter day is very inspiring and healthy.  We are all inside so much of the time during the Winter and those chances to get out and enjoy the day when the weather is cooperating are welcome and appreciated.  What is your favorite Winter sport or activity?  I have some old friends who spend their New Year’s Eve camping in Algonquin Park!  That is taking things a little too far in my opinion!  Personally, skating or tobogganing are my two favorites.  Skiing was never my thing and my bones are still in one piece so far because of my caution on that sport.

We also have had very little snow to shovel!  With that said I am nursing a sore back today from doing too much shoveling last weekend.  I had a huge surge in energy, straightening-up the house, shoveling the snow and making things look beautiful.  It feels so good when those juices get going and my creativity flows.  Problems are sized-up and dealt with and the solutions fall into place.  The kitchen and living room are functional again and looking good.  Now I just need my back to stop punishing me for my exuberance!
